| Deep
draw technology (or, deep drawn stamping) is a process
of cold forming a round or shaped flat blank into a desired
form — without excessive wrinkling, thinning or
fracturing. Parts are “deep drawn” if their
length, after being drawn, is in excess of one-half of
their diameter.
Sizes of deep drawn parts may vary from
very small (less than 0.250”, or the metric equivalent)
to very large (more than 12”, or the metric equivalent).
The material thickness of deep drawn parts has a large
range. Some may have a wall thickness of less than 0.010”,
while others may have a wall thickness greater than 0.125”.
